Thank you for this, Wendell.

I recently wrote you a letter about how the state of Pennsylvania shuffled my kids in to medicaid for insurance, even though we are not really poor. I soon learned that United Health Care is the only company that has kids medicaid plan in our area. By chance my son broke his leg, and sure enough they initially denied the claim. His leg got infected, requiring hospitalization, and again they are trying to deny the claim. What a bunch of greedy bottom feeders they are.

thank you for your reply Wendell. All I can find this minute is this letter I wrote to the governor and Pa. Dept. of Human Services. It's probably the same one I copied to you.

to Gov Wolfe,

I'd like to bring to your attention the text of a letter I just wrote to the Pa. Dept. of Human Services: " Dear Sirs,

I got health insurance through the Pennie exchange this year. For the frst time in my life, the system put my kids on medicaid insurance through United Healthcare Insurance Co. I am not poor and I do not need medicaid, but someone or some computer put my kids on medicaid. My son recently broke his leg and had surgery to repair it. United Healthcare immediately denied our insurance claim, saying his hospitalization was unnecessary. Those people are crooks and liars. It damn well was necessary! 2 broken bones! Now I have to go through some long process of arguing with the insurance company, not knowing if they will pay anything at all. How can our state government allow this company to treat Pennsylvanians like this? Did United Healthcare bribe our legislators to allow this? I can't imagine any other way this dirty business would be permitted. If you are really working for the citizens of this state, please stop this crooked insurance company. I've already fled a complaint with the state insurance commission. "

Wendell, it's quite a coincidence that you replied to me today because just this morning I got a call from a very cordial lady who works for United Healthcare. She assured me that all our claims have been paid, and that the denial letters we got are automatically generated by a machine. I asked: what's the point of automatically generated denial letters? Her reply went something like: "Oh don't worry about that. Everybody gets them. They don't mean anything." Well, after reading some books by Wendell Potter, it's hard for me to believe that denial letters don't mean anything. Thanks again for your reply. I'll be glad to talk with you any time.
