Wendell, it is important to note that, despite some improvement in Canadian physician compensation and a marginally better exchange rate, most U.S. physicians moving to Canada are taking a substantial pay cut to do so. I would have left a year ago myself, but my wife won’t consider moving north. That’s the biggest indictment of our system: not only are doctors leaving, they’re willing to take 20-30% pay cuts to do so.

Every prior authorization must feel like a boat anchor around our doctors' necks. We need Medicare for All. Certainly, the new AI that is raising our electric bills should be able to handle the bureaucracy without the health insurance industry intermediaries.
